I always have supported the war against Iraq because I think this war is just and it is human. The humanitarian cost of peace is much bigger than the humanitarian cost of war.
It is the world's responsability to defend the universal human valous which are violated in Iraq by the barbaric regime in Bagdad.
The real butcher and fascist isn't in Washington but in Bagdad. I am pro war and I will stay pro war. I have written a text "pro war is pro humanity" but it is in dutch so only people that can understand dutch will be able to read it.
But I am really annoyed by the behavior of the English and the Americans. Its not because I support the war on Iraq, I support evertyhing they do and everything they say.
A british diplomat called the Belgian army useless. Like their army is worth something. It took the british 3 weeks to control Basrah and Um Quasr in Iraq, they were more of a burden than a help for the Americans. It shows how pathetic their army is, that they can't even conquer a bunch of rednecks in Iraq.
The Belgian army has shown in the past it is effective and efficient. I know we are a small country and our army is only 60.000 soldiers big but our military spendings are 2.6 billion dollars not bad for a small country. Our air force is modern and quite big for a country like Belgium and our land force is very well trained for african operations.
The Americans couldn't even control a pathetic country like Somalia, may we remember the British and the Americans that we ruled central africa for 100 years, that we beat the Germans with the Force Publique (colonial army) in Africa.
It just seems that the British can't accept their time of worldpower is over, they are just good enough to clean up the mess the Americans have caused in some areas in Iraq.
I do agree that there are some units in the Belgian army that are old like the navy. But the navy isn't really a priority because Belgium only has 60km of coast line. We only have 3 frigats and 8 minesweapers and some other surveillance ships.
The real reason is, is that the British are annoyed they weren't invited on the European defence top. The British never felt like Europeans not that I think the EU is a good idea but I do believe that the defence top is a good idea.
I really don't understand the British and American insults.
It shows how intellectual backward their diplomats are. The Americans always complained that europe didn't invest enough in the national armies now we actually want to do something, invest more, organize better so we can support the American actions and now they are against that and mock us.
This is not an anti-american move this is a pro american move from the governement of Belgium, France, Germany and Luxemburg. This meeting aims to make the NATO stronger and I am happy the Belgian governement is leading the talks about a stronger military.
